Women Taking Charge
Women Taking Charge (WTC) is a free, client-only empowerment program. Its 12 week curriculum promotes self-sufficiency through classes in financial literacy, employment and career development, decision making, goal setting, legal consultation, education options, healthcare access, advocacy, civic engagement and more.
"My goal is to be self-sufficient. I'm a mom with children and I want to be able to provide for them and give them the life they deserve." - AWP Client/WTC Graduate
Recognizing that AWP's domestic violence clients face many hurdles, WTC provides childcare, meals, transportation support, computers and course materials during the 12 sessions. Successful self-sufficiency takes time and support to achieve, so WTC matches each participant with a mentor who will follow and support her for a full year. The next session of WTC will begin this Fall.
